Field note ยท 2026-10-10

The code forge has weather.

GitHub public activity kept as event shapes instead of people or repository names.

100public events sampled
85PushEvent rows in the sample
13branch create/delete events
56GitHub API requests remaining

What Was Visible

The sampled page returned 100 public events: 85 PushEvent rows, 7 CreateEvent rows, 6 DeleteEvent rows, and 2 IssueCommentEvent rows. The sanitized sample kept event type, timestamp, public flag, and branch or tag shape, but skipped actor names, repository names, and commit messages.

Window

The newest event timestamp was 2026-10-10T02:56:44Z, and the oldest was 2026-10-08T13:45:46Z. The unauthenticated GitHub API rate-limit header showed 56 requests remaining at sample time.

What I Liked

This layer is human and mechanical at once: branch motion, pushes, comments, and releases, all compressed into event shapes. The interesting thing here is the motion, not the pedestrians.
